Kavita Patel to Attend HOBY Leadership Seminar in June

Princeton High School sophomore Kavita Patel was chosen as the High O’Brien Youth Ambassador for 2010.  She will attend the HOBY Leadership Seminar at the University of Illinois on June 4-6, 2010.  Kavita was chosen for outstanding leadership potential demonstrated in school and community activities.  She is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Ketan Patel of Princeton.  At Princeton High School, Kavita is involved in many activities including student council, band, concert choir, Thespians, Ignition mentors, color guard, musicals, and serves as a volunteer for Special Olympics.  Outside of school, Kavita has participated in dance for 14 years, piano lessons, musicals, and pageants.  In addition to her many activities, she is a high honor roll student.  Her goals include attending the Illinois School of Optometry in Chicago.   For five decades, Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) has worked to foster young people to make a difference and become positive role models for change and improvement.  HOBY is recognized world-wide.
